Trip 425: Three Days Extreme Hiking: Akkar El-3ateeka - Qammou3a - Qmamine


As we promised those who like Extreme Hiking Trips at the beginning of this year, the Footprints Nature Club in collaboration with Destination X Club, are glad to invite all Extreme Hikers in the coming Easter Vacation (Friday, Saturday & Sunday 30, 31 March, & 1 April) to a splendid trip in the most beautiful region for hiking: Akkar Region. The trip will be:

Three-Days Hiking in Akkar Region: Akkar Atika – Qammou3a - Qmamine

The trip will start on Friday, where we will meet starting 2:00 PM in Met7af (National Museum) in Beirut. When we reach Akkar El-Atika, we will have a short sunset & night hiking trip for around 9 KMs to reach our camping place. On Saturday, we will start our very challenging walk that will take us from an elevation of 700 meters till around 1600 meters for around 23 KMs, to end in Qammou3a to have our camp there. On Sunday, we will continue our walk from Qammou3a (3ozor Forest) to end in the forgotten village of Qmamine, with around 20 KMs hike.

All the Three-Days walk will be in really the most beautiful places in that region, and in Lebanon. So make sure to have you chargers for your cameras with you…

Note that Monday is a vacation, so you will be able to rest after this big hike...

Of course, the trip is of Advanced Level. It is for those who can bare these long trails. The bus will be meeting us at the camping sites, thus we will not have to carry our tents and extra food, water & stuff with us.

The fees of the trip will be 100$ per person including transportation & guidance.

You should make sure to get the following stuff with:

  • Light Food & Enough Water Bottles for:
    • Friday: Dinner
    • Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
    • Sunday: Breakfast and Lunch
  • A tent if you have one
  • Your medicines, if needed
  • Headlamp or a Torch
  • Sleeping bag for cold weather, or warm blankets
  • Insects repellent lotion
  • Very warm clothes, sweater, jacket - Wool hat
  • Things you use for toilet
  • Other important stuff you might need

Cost Fees

Trip cost 150,000 L.L., includes:

  • Transportation from and back to Beirut
  • Cost of the guides
  • Cost of the local guide

Gathering Place & Time

Our gathering will be at the traffic lights on the crossroad of the General Security building الأمن العام and El-Mathaf المتحف region in Beirut. You can park in the parking nearby. We gather starting 2:00 PM.

We will start on Tuesday 30 Mar, 2010 at 02:00 PM.
The bus will move at 02:35 PM.
We will stop for lunch on the way. We might be obliged to do some modifications to the plans as needed during the trips.
We will finish on Thursday 01 Apr, 2010 at 06:00 PM.

    KNOW YOUR ABILITIES; CHOOSE AN APPROPRIATE HIKE.

    Be a Lightweight

    THE LESS YOU CARRY, THE MORE ENJOYABLE THE HIKE.

    Avoid Huffing and Puffing

    IF YOU CAN TALK WHILE YOU ARE WALKING, YOU ARE WALKING THE PERFECT SPEED.

  • 04

    Take a Break

    TAKE A TEN MINUTE BREAK AT LEAST ONCE EVERY HOUR.

  • 05

    No Food, No Fuel, No Fun

    DRINK FREQUENTLY AND EAT OFTEN.
